HOUSTON ( 6/27/2005 ) - AMEC Paragon’s Ken Arnold Elected to National Academy of Engineering

Ken Arnold, senior executive vice president of AMEC Paragon and founder and former CEO of Paragon Engineering Services, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), one of the highest professional distinctions accorded an engineer.

Academy membership acknowledges outstanding contributions to the field of engineering. Founded in 1964, NAE recently elected 74 new members and 10 foreign associates, bringing the total of U.S. members to 2,195 and foreign associates to 178.

“This is a great acknowledgement of Ken, someone who has always been the consummate ‘engineer’s engineer.’ His leadership and professionalism in this field is a fine example to the engineering profession,” said Simon Naylor, president of AMEC Paragon.

With more than 40 years of experience in facilities engineering design and project management for onshore and offshore projects around the world, Arnold was recognized by the NAE for his contributions to the safety, design and standardization of hydrocarbon production.

Academy membership is one of several honors received over the past few years by Arnold, including the Texas Society of Professional Engineers’ 2003 Engineer of the Year Award and an American Petroleum Institute citation for his work in promoting offshore safety.

“Engineering has provided me a rewarding career that has afforded me the privilege to give back to the industry,” Arnold said. “I am grateful and humbled to receive this industry recognition and intend to be involved in this field for many years to come.”
